SquareTrade © AP6.0 Before you buy a MySky from me or from anyone else, you need to be fully aware of a very common glitch that has been affecting about half of the MySkys sold. I have been selling these Myskys for about 2 months or so, and after selling about 12 of them, I began to receive one complaint after another from different customers telling me that the MySky units they had purchased would freeze every time it tried to acquire a satellite signal. (Do a Google search for meade mysky "not acquire" including the quotes, and you will see how common it is.) I had all the customers who complained send the units back for full refunds. After several hours of research on Google, and many calls to Meade, I realized that it was a manufacturer defect with bad firmware. I tried using the firmware updater from the Meade website, and shockingly, the updater would not work at all (it kept formatting the SD Card, & then displaying an error message). The warranty guys at Meade told me they would send me a new card with the correct firmware, unfortunately it was on back order for 1-2 weeks. So I waited and waited some more (with about 15 brand new myskys just sitting on my shelf). Finally about a month later, I received the SD card in the mail. I put the sd card in one of the myskys and tried to test it. Guess what? the MYSKY still could not acquire a satellite signal!! After another 4 hours of online research, I was able to find a mysky newsgroup, with a guy who created a bin firmware file that would take the new firmware and make it work (the guy has to be a genius). I tried his file with the firmware that meade sent me, and I finally got it work. I took this new working firmware and put it on all the MYSKY's which I am currently selling. Please be aware of this when bidding.
