Description

QUESTAR MULTI-FOCAL LENGTH 3 1/2" SURVEILLANCE TELESCOPEThis instrument provides 3 features not present on Questar's standard scopes, that make it uniquely suitable for high-resolution observation and image recording at distances from hundreds of yards (though it will focus much closer) to several kilometers--or beyond, ---subject to atmospheric limitations, of course :-)1. Manually rotatable optical turret enables selection of five focal lengths, and commensurate effective apertures.480mm f5.4 T6.6 660mm 7.4 T9.1 820mm f9.2 T11.3 955mm f10.7 T13.1 1290mm f14.6 T17.82. Manually rotatable filter turret enables selection of up to five filters. Currently installed are Neutral Density 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0, with one open.3. Additional slow-drive rack and pinion focusing, with 'push-pull' gear engagement, enables both 'getting to range' and very precise focus in a more rapid fashion than with the standard Questar instruments.(The fine focusing rack was optional equipment, and provided on fewer than 20 of this model's total production)Whether for forensic, scientific, or naturalist observations, this scope simply excels. Please see this: current model infofor a full description of the optical system as used in this earlier, fully-manual model, and suggestions for optimal camera choices.and this pdf: mfl90 info sheet[also of the newer, current model] (the uppermost lines on page three show well the fields of view for this instrument, as currently equipped, at working distances from 1-5 km, when used with a recommended 2/3" CCD element camera;full 35mm format element would vignette at focal lengths other than the 'open' 1290mm prime)The scope is in truly fine working order, with no markings evident on the optical elements, though with many handling marks on the painted surfaces. Both of the turrets and the rack and pinion drives move flawlessly. The mirrors have the 'BB' broadband coating. You will need an M42 threaded camera adapter tube with the appropriate camera adapter ring. Please feel free to ask any questions . .  and . .Thank You for Your Interest !
